Well I officially suck at this whole blogging thing. Then again, my life is FAR from exciting right now so I honestly don't have much to write about on a daily basis.
I'm sitting here finishing up pumping (hands free!) session in months, and I'm pleasantly surprised that my supply is still going strong. I discovered that I have that stupid Lipase issue so now I'm going to have to scald any milk I pump before it goes in the freezer. Thankfully I'm a SAHM so it's not something I really have to worry about for now.
I have some errands to run so I figured today would be a great day to test out the whole bottle thing. If it fails I can always just nurse her as usual. This should definitely be interesting.

Happily Ever After
That's what we all seek, isn't it? We want that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, that last piece of our favorite desert, or maybe even to win the lottery. We all have our own idea of what happily ever after means to us. I think I'm really close to mine.
I've never been one of those people who wanted the world. Though I've had a few crazy dreams in life, I've always wanted simple things. I wanted to get married to a man who thinks I'm beautiful 24/7, loves me unconditionally, and who gets me. CHECK! I wanted to at least experience pregnancy and childbirth once. CHECK! I wanted to find something that I love (Graphic Design). CHECK!
I really do live a blessed life, and I thank God every day for answering my prayers and giving me my heart's desires. He is a gracious God.

Thankful
I often read message boards in awe because of all the women talking about the mountain of issues they are having adjusting or just making it day to day. Is having a baby really that difficult? I feel ridiculously blessed then because I guess God saw fit to give me an easy baby. Maybe it's because I don't have many friends and family up here, or maybe it's because my husband is overseas. Whatever the reason is, I'm very thankful. She is such a happy baby, and she already has so much personality. It breaks my heart that AJ is having to watch her grow up through a computer screen. He was made to be a father, and I'm glad that we were able to prove the doctors wrong when he was told that having a child was not in his future.

You've changed!
Change is inevitable, right? You can't spend your whole life being the same person. Life is all about change because it yields growth. It's amazing just how much and how quickly I've changed since giving birth to Gia. I've started to re-evaluate things from my past with a different perspective. Let me tell you, that has been very interesting. It's like watching a movie over again only to notice new things that you missed the first time you watched it.
Not everyone always likes or appreciates the changes that happen, but maybe they will understand that it's necessary. I've realized that I might lose some people out of my life due to changes I make, and even though it hurts a little I know that I can't stop it from happening. I just have to remind myself that it's all for Gia. I only want the BEST for her, and I think she deserves to have the best mom in the universe so that's what I'm striving to be. I've never really been an overly selfish person so giving up things for her hasn't been difficult. In fact, in some ways I'm grateful that I have her to stop me from being able to do whatever I want, whenever I want.
It's also amazing how much Gia has changed in just 5 weeks. There are still some similarities, but she looks quite different I think. I am excited to see what she'll look like as she continues to grow and change.

A late start
So my intention was to start this blog as soon as we came home from the hospital. Unfortunately, that was over a month ago. So I guess today is as good a day as any to get this thing going. I think I'm feeling a little unsure since I don't have much, if anything, to write about.
I really want to keep this blog going considering I have enough free time to really invest in it. I just have to keep myself motivated I guess. So this will be the place for me to share everything about little miss Gia and my adventures in the (eventually) exciting world of being a mother.
